GREYFRIARS EDINBURGH ART FAIR 2026
A new international contemporary art fair arrives in the heart of Edinburgh

23–24 October 2026 | Greyfriars Kirk, Edinburgh Old Town

Edinburgh, October 2026 — This autumn, the historic Greyfriars Kirk will become a meeting point for contemporary art as the Greyfriars Edinburgh Art Fair opens its doors on 23 and 24 October 2026, bringing together a curated selection of local, UK and international artists in the heart of Edinburgh's Old Town.

Conceived as a new platform for discovering and engaging with contemporary art, the Fair will present works by emerging and established artists across a diverse range of disciplines, including painting, sculpture, photography, illustration and mixed media.

Set within one of Edinburgh's most distinctive historic landmarks, Greyfriars Edinburgh Art Fair creates a dialogue between contemporary artistic practice and the unique architectural character of Greyfriars Kirk. Over two days, visitors will have the opportunity to discover new artists, meet exhibitors, engage directly with their work and acquire original contemporary art.

The Fair opens to the public on Friday 23 October, from 4:00 pm to 9:00 pm, launching the weekend with an evening dedicated to contemporary art, conversation and discovery. A Champagne Reception from 6:00 pm will bring together participating artists, collectors, art professionals and visitors in a relaxed setting within Greyfriars Kirk, marking the official opening of the inaugural edition.

On Saturday 24 October, the Fair will be open from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm, offering a full day for visitors to explore the exhibition and meet the artists behind the works. At 5:00 pm, the Fair will host the Henry Raeburn Prize Award Ceremony, recognising outstanding artistic achievement among artists participating in the 2026 edition.
The award takes its name from Sir Henry Raeburn, one of Scotland's most celebrated painters and a defining figure in Scottish portraiture, creating a symbolic connection between Edinburgh's artistic heritage and a new generation of contemporary artists.

An international art fair in an iconic Edinburgh setting

Greyfriars Edinburgh Art Fair has been created with the ambition of establishing a distinctive new date in Edinburgh's cultural calendar: an accessible yet carefully curated international art event where audiences can encounter contemporary art directly and artists can develop new relationships with collectors, professionals and the wider public.

The inaugural edition will bring together artistic voices from different countries, backgrounds and disciplines, reflecting the diversity and international character of contemporary art today.

With its combination of historic architecture, contemporary creativity and international participation, the Fair invites audiences to experience art in one of the most atmospheric settings in Edinburgh.
